December Meeting
The March 8, 2008 meeting will be held downstairs in our usual
meeting area of the Aerospace Education Center Branch Library.
We will be talking about the regional and assigning responsibilities,
we'll also begin some of the additional classes to help prepare
everyone for the Convention.

Arkansas Aerospace Education Center Model
Display Room Project
We are a year into the AEC Model Room project and it is finally beginning to
become a usable room again. Several new display cases have been added to the
Anteroom where the club's efforts will be on display and on the mezzanine. The
cases were provided to us by the Arkansas State Capitol following the club's
(read Noel Lawson) efforts to support the 2007 Christmas display at the Capitol.

Following the March Meeting we will be working to move some of the artifacts
from storage for display in the model room and all volunteers are welcome.

CASM Forum

Paul has gotten the CASM Forum pages setup for everyone to use. You can follow
this link to the Forum:
http://forum.casmodels.org. When you get there you will
need to register, and then wait for approval from the forum moderator, before
you can post anything to the site. More changes are on the way for the forum and
hopefully you will all use it to exchange ideas, hints and tips, show off your
models and grow in this hobby we all enjoy.

CASM Members Claims Nats Awards
Several of our members made the trip to KC for the 2006 IPMS National
Convention and Contest the first week of August and came away with their
share of the winnings. Only three of those making the trip north entered
their efforts in the competition the return was pretty good. In the
Automotive Division Coby Robinson grabbed a trifecta with a first, second
and third place finish in three different classes. Be watching here for
some pictures and a brief how-to from Coby. Over in Diorams Ed Swaim
grabbed a second in Miscellaneous Dioramas with his beautifully rendered
boxed diorama of WWI British "Clay Kickers" at work in the trenches.
Last, but certainly not least in the group, was Noel Lawson who picked up
three awards to add to his case. Noel added a first place award in 1/32
Aircraft with his beautiful Dauntless, and two seconds in the Figure
Division with a Series 77 GI that looked so real in the cold you could
nearly hear the snow crunching beneath his boots, and a 54mm US
Paratrooper of the 82nd Airborn. Congratulations to everyone that won and
be watching here for photos of the winers.

Elections
This year's elections have been postponed for a while following a decision
by those in attendance at the last meeting to extend the term of the
current officers so the newly elected officers can take office following the
annual model show. This has always been the practice of the club but the
contest and show was moved from its normal spring date to the fall
beginning this coming year.. The new officers for 2005 are: President -
Rick Knapp; Vice-President - Ian Atkinson; Secretary - Daris Long;
Treasurer - David Wassell.

Senator Glenn Visits LR
Ron Leker got the chance to meet one of his childhood heroes recently
when Senator, and former Astronaut, Col. John Glenn made an appearance
at Little Rock's Museum of Discovery.
You can read Ron's report on the
visit and his meeting with the Senator and see some of the pics he took.
