2009 IPMS Region 6 Convention
We are at it once more, having been selected to host the Region 6 Convention for
the second straight year. This year's event will be held once more at the Pulaski
Technical College Grand Hall, this time on October 3. There are 60 classes to
compete in and plenty of special awards to go around. Click the link above for more
information.

2008 Region 6 Convention
We survived and it seems like the first reviews of the show are positive. More than
300 models were entered, and there were some outstanding entries in every class.
You can check out a few pages of photos from the show on
Photobucket, and there
will be other photos to download soon.

2008 Region 6 Chapter of the Year
The AEC Model Room, State Capitol Christmas Display, Support Our Troops, The Jason
Dunham Memorial, support for our fellow Region 6 clubs, and the Regional Convention. Bring
all of these things together and you'll find what made the Central Arkansas Scale Modelers
the 2008 Region 6 Chapter of the year. Thank you for the selection and thank you to the
members for all the work that went into making this possible.

Arkansas Aerospace Education Center Model Display Room
Project
We are a year into the AEC Model Room and it is finally beginning to become a usable room
again, but the next step is up to the AEC's Board. Under Noel Lawson's active supervision
the cases from the library have been moved into the model room and following the June
meeting glass shelving has been installed and are awaiting the models. Several artifacts
from the storage room have been cleaned and prepared for display, but the Board's
approval has yet to be secured.

Cpl. Jason Dunham Memorial
The model of the USS Jason Dunham, DDG-109, has been completed and mounted to the
base and is ready for delivery for display at the Jason Dunham Memorial at his hometown
of Scio, New York. David Carter built the model for the display and Ron Leker built and
finished the display base. Cpl. Dunham was the first recipient of the Congressional Medal of
Honor during hostilities in Iraq for action in Karabilah on April 14, 2004. For more
information on Cpl. Dunham and the Memorial follow these links.

CASM Forum

Paul has gotten the CASM Forum pages setup for everyone to use. You can follow this link
to the Forum:
http://forum.casmodels.org. When you get there you will need to register,
and then wait for approval from the forum moderator, before you can post anything to the
site. More changes are on the way for the forum and hopefully you will all use it to
exchange ideas, hints and tips, show off your models and grow in this hobby we all enjoy.

CASM Members Claim Awards
Several of our members made recent trips to Dallas (Grapevine really) for the 2008 NCT
contest and Scalefest, the last day of May, and Memphis for King-Con 2008 the first
weekend of June. At both shows our travelers came home with about 10 individual awards,
including a thrid straight Best Automotive winner at the Memphis show.

Elections
It is time to start thinking about the elections, and don't mean those screwed up examples
we have in November. As we normally have our elections to allow for the new officers to
take office immediately following the conclusion of the annual model contest we all need to
be thinking about who we would like to see nominated this year. Nominations need to be
made in the July meeting so elections can be held in September.

Senator Glenn Visits LR
Ron Leker got the chance to meet one of his childhood heroes recently when Senator, and
former Astronaut, Col. John Glenn made an appearance at Little Rock's Museum of
Discovery.
You can read Ron's report on the visit and his meeting with the Senator and see
some of the pics he took.
