Member of the Year: Members voted via paper ballots for Member of the Year. The results of the vote will be announced at the Sproo-Doo on September 21st.
Raffle Donations: Cliff Bullock told everyone that although there had been many donations for raffle items for the show, members could also donate kits as well. If you have any new-in-box kits in your stash that you may want to get rid of, consider donating them.
Discussion: Steve Wilson suggested that we consider joining with other clubs within driving distance to present one show per year on a rotating basis rather than several different shows. He believes this may alleviate the problem with getting vendors to participate.
September Demo: Ray Smith will lead a discussion on judging. This is in preparation for the Sproo-Doo, which will be held the following weekend. Please bring some completed models of varying quality, and that you are willing to have critiqued, to be used as examples for this discussion.
Demo: Bob Hiatt gave a presentation on wood bending using heat and various woods. He also discussed preparing planks, creating windows with Crystal Clear, creating rigging, tying knots, using tweezers and bee’s wax.

CASM Executive Board Meeting Minutes
Date: 8-24-13
Members present: Brent Bristow, Tom Brown, Brianna Childres, Ken Childres, Ray Smith
Absent: Rick Knapp, David Wassell
The meeting was called to order by President Ken Childres at 10:00 a.m.
National and Regional Awards: The IPMS chapters that won Club of the Year, Website of the Year, and Newsletter of the Year were announced at the 2013 IPMS/USA National Convention last month. Ken has emailed each of the winning clubs on behalf of CASM to congratulate them. The regional awards for our region have not yet been announced.
Future Contests: The logistical aspects of holding contests in the future were discussed. As a first step, Tom Brown has prepared a questionnaire that will first be given to the CASM club members, and then later to members of IPMS clubs in the surrounding areas. The questionnaire will be handed out in the October meeting.
CASM Forum and Facebook: Ken shared with us that the activity on the CASM Facebook page continues to grow and posts on our page reach as many as 250 people per week due to members sharing posts on their own pages. Tom told us that most of the activity on the Scratching Post comes from Facebook. The CASM Forum, along with many other modeling forums, has seen a large decrease in activity. While no changes in the Forum will be made at this time, Ken wanted us to be aware of this shift.
Printing: Bri asked about getting a large outside banner to be hung on the outside of the building during the Spoo-Doo. Also, some of our overseas members have asked about using one of our banners for shows in Europe. Ken has determined that it is less expensive to send the graphics file to them and pay for a new one to be printed that they may keep, than to ship our extra banner to Europe and have it shipped back. New CASM membership cards are being printed.
Judges’ Training: Ray will be leading a discussion on judging during the September meeting. Tom will republish Brent’s article on judging that was in the Scratching Post earlier this year. There will also be a judges’ training held on the morning of the show for out-of-town attendees that may be asked to participate in judging. Bri told us that she would like for there to be more discussion among the judges during judging.
Sproo-Doo 2013: Everything is ready to go for this event. This year, we will have an additional room where judges’ training will take place, and later videos of past demos and seminars will be shown. This will also provide a place for attendees to go during judging. Registration will be set up on the other side of the building, and will be closed off while scores are being calculated.
