CASM E-Board Minutes - March 2012
Date: 3/11/12
Members present: Ken Childres, Tom Brown, Brianna Childres, David Stilwell
Absent: David Wassell, Joshua Swift
The meeting was called to order by President Ken Childres at 10:00 A.M.
Airbrush Seminar
Ken Childres reported that the Airbrush Seminar went really well. There were nine participants in the seminar with three teachers. The 3:1 student-to-teacher ratio was barely enough but effective in providing individual instruction when needed. The participants of the seminar seemed to enjoy themselves. Future seminars could be improved by having more structure, teachers, and participants with better lesson planning.
Paypal
Brianna Childress will be talking with David Wassell about setting up a Paypal account through the club website.
Alternative Meeting Place.
The Hobbytown lease will be up in approximately nine months and Roger is evaluating a number of options. One option is to expand the store into the space where the club is currently meeting. If that option was selected, Hobbytown would provide space within the store for the club to meet. In addition, the space where the club is currently meeting could be leased any month causing the club to find another location. No solutions were generated in how respond to the two possibilities noted above. However, Ken is going to discuss the pros and cons of the first option with Roger and other options need to be explored by the club. The primary issue for the club is finding a space that can comfortably seat the average number attendees of the club meetings. Thirty-four people attended the last meeting. A second issue involves the proximity of WI-FI so that the club can continue to stream the meetings via the net.
March Demonstration
Dave Stilwell is going to try to get a demonstration together that shows how to make realistic looking mud for dioramas. He is planning on talking with Daris Long about putting on the demonstration or will do the demonstration himself.
Officer Elections
This year is election year for the officers of CASM. It is time to put together the Election Committee who will run the elections. A number of members’ names were discussed as potential members of the committee and will be contacted. Members of the committee must be people who do not desire to be nominated for an officer position. In the meantime, club members need to start thinking about who they would like to hold the different officer positions.
Pulaski Tech April Contest
The contest at Pulaski Tech will be April 21st. We will be assisting in the advertisement of the show by including a show banner on the club website and reminding club members about the contest during the next two club meetings.
Sproo-Do Contest Update
The flyer for the CASM contest in October will be completed today and Brianna Childres will be contacting venders and sponsors for the show. John’s Models has already committed to vender tables. Club members need to start selling sponsorships now to assist with the cash flow of funding the contest. Brianna will also be getting a quote from an alternative place to purchase the medals for the contest.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:00 P.M.

Now that we have received three demonstrations about how to write an article, we need articles for the Scratching Post. Please write and submit an article by going to the Scratching Post Tab on the CASM Home Page. CASM looks like a figure modeling club based on the articles in the Scratching Post. Come on armor, aircraft, and car modelers show us your stuff!
Posting on the Forum
Club members reported in the Club survey last year that they desired fellowship with club members as the most important part of the club. Using the Forum is a way to have Fellowship between meetings. We have a lot of lurkers but not many posters. Please post pictures of your completed models and WIPs and if you view these categories or the announcements, please post a comment. If you can’t think of a comment then make one up. If you don’t write a comment, then the people who post are less likely to post again.
