CASM Executive Board Minutes - February 2013
Date: 3-3-13
Members present: Brent Bristow, Tom Brown, Brianna Childres, Ken Childres, Rick Knapp, Ray Smith
Absent: David Wassell
The meeting was called to order by President Ken Childres at 4:00 p.m.
Recap of February Meeting: Ken went over the information from the February E-Board meeting for those that were unable to attend. The Interest Survey given to the membership in January was discussed in detail. (See minutes from February meeting.)
Dues: Several members have not paid dues for 2013. Brent has turned in the list of currently paid members to Roger for the HobbyTown discount. Other names will be added as their dues are paid. Members will be unable to vote until their dues are paid.
Demos: Rick shared with us the list of the demos he currently has lined up, and at this time demos are scheduled through the July meeting. At the next meeting, the membership will be asked for suggestions of demos they would like to see.
AMPS: There is still an interest in getting a dual charter with AMPS. Ken will be attending the international AMPS show next month, and will get the appropriate information at that time.
Work Days: Members will be encouraged to hang around, watch and ask questions even if they do not want to work on a model themselves.
By-Law Revision: The By-Laws will be sent to committee for approval.
IMPS Membership: To promote membership in IMPS, CASM will hold a gift card drawing for CASM members that join or renew IPMS membership within a period of 2 months beginning with the March meeting.
IMPS “of the Year” Awards: The deadline to apply for the Club, Website, and Newsletter of the Year is April 15. CASM will be applying for all three awards for 2013. An in-depth discussion of the accomplishments of CASM since April 15, 2012 generated a substantial list of criteria to include in the submission documents. The accomplishments include the Facebook and Forum contests, the HobbyTown move, the library display, Ken’s TV interview, Noel Lawson’s article, Rusty Nail’s demo at the Atlanta figure show, helping other clubs with website/streaming and judging database, work days, promotion of IMPS incentive program, PayPal and online registration.
Scratching Post: Newsletter editor Tom Brown shared with us that he has three articles that have been submitted and are being edited for publication. He has several others he is expecting soon. He also told us that the traffic from other areas of the world is increasing at a fast rate.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
