CASM E-Board Minutes - March 2013
Date: 3-30-13
Members present: Brent Bristow, Tom Brown, Brianna Childres, Ken Childres, Rick Knapp, Ray Smith
Absent: David Wassell
The meeting was called to order by President Ken Childres at 10:00 a.m.
Recap of Last Meeting: Ken and Brent went over minutes of the last meeting, and made note of topics that need additional follow up.
Banner: Ken has designed a banner that will be hung in HobbyTown. The design was discussed and Ken will move forward with getting the banner printed.
IPMS Membership: The membership drive is underway, and so far, only 2 people have renewed membership during the designated period.
Website Club Member Profiles: It was suggested that we take member photos, perhaps in the form of a mug shot, during future club meetings, and have members fill out the questionnaires for submission.
IPMS “of the Year” Awards: Work has begun on the submissions for IPMS Club, Website, and Newsletter of the Year. Looking over these drafts took most of the meeting time, and E-Board members looked over the formats, and discussed the best way to present our information. Brianna has done a tremendous job of formatting these packets. The packets will be completed and submitted by April 15.
Youth Program: CASM will do a Youth Modelers Contest in the summer of 2014 separate from the Sproo-Doo. In leading up to this event, there will be scheduled instructional sessions in which members assist young modelers build entries for the event.
Scratching Post and Website: Brianna presented the statistics for hit rates on sections of the website/Scratching Post articles and from where geographically the hits were coming. This indicated web visitors from all over the world, and hits according to search engines. It was also discussed that Scratching Post articles that are about thought processes and approaches to modeling, not necessarily about specific techniques, are getting the most hits.
Plaque for Fallen Members: Brianna reminded the E-Board that a plaque with the names of fallen members had been planned, but for various reasons had never been made. The E-Board will follow up on this.
Work Days: Members are encouraged to participate in work days and see the benefits of modeling together. Tom will be preparing a series of Scratching Post articles on this subject.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:55 a.m.
