CASM Meeting Minutes

Present: Brent Bristow, Tom Brown, Cliff Bullock, Richard Buzbee, Brianna Childres, Kenneth Childres, Tom Dungan, Lloyd King, Rick Knapp, Noel Lawson, Daris Long, Chris Luna, Sam Macheak, Jay Miller, Conrad Schalchlin, Garrick St. Pierre, David Stilwell, Mike Warren, David Wassell
The meeting was called to order by President Kenneth Childres at 10:00 A.M.
Announcements:
Announcements that do not require discussion were emailed out to members, and paper copies were handed out during the meeting. If you have not received these announcements, contact Ray Smith or Ken Childres.
Show Reports: Ken Childres gave a report of the AMPS International show held in Atlanta, GA, on 4/20-4/21. There were 431 models exhibited at the show. Also in attendance were many well-known modelers and authors in the hobby. Ken won 3 gold medals and 1 bronze.
Dave Stillwell gave a report on the 6th Annual Arkansas Modeler Championship, held in Jacksonville, AR on 4/20. There around 195 models, and many CASM members attended. Members that won awards include Tom Brown, Lloyd King, David Stillwell, Daris Long, Brent Bristow, Ron Leker, Matt Bonds and Ray Smith.
Sproo-Doo: Members voted and approved the ordering and purchasing of plaques and medals for the 2013 show. Vendors for the show are still needed, and members can get a table during the show if they have items they wish to sell. More announcements about the show are in the information sheet provided by Ken.
Group Build: The current group build is due at the June meeting. The theme of the group build is 1945-1965.
Lexington Display: Let Ken know if you are planning to attend the grand opening on Monday, May 27th. He is trying to arrange a car pool. More announcements about the display are in the information sheet provided by Ken.
Demo: Rick Knapp presented a demo on armor tracks, including connecting and painting, direction of the tracks, weathering, paint abrasion, and how to paint the wheels.

IPMS Membership Drive Drawing: Members who joined or renewed their membership with IPMS between 3/9/13 and 5/11/13 were eligible for participate in this drawing for HobbyTown gift cards. The winners were Ken Childress-$25, Sam Macheak-$50, and Tom Brown-$75.
Show-N-Tell:
Cliff Bullock presented a Dragon Tiger I initial production WIP, a Hasagawa Tiger, and a Bulgarian 38T.
Rick Knapp presented a WIP Dragon M4A4 Sherman Tank with figures.
Tom Dungan presented an AMT A20 Havoc.
Sam Macheak presented a Boeing K-135R die cast model, a Heller VBCI 1/35 Afghanistan NIB, a Russian BTR-60PU NIB, and a Meng Nerkava Mk. 3 BAZ NIB.
Tom Brown presented a bust of Spike from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series.
Richard Buzbee presented a Tamiya Panzer 35T and Dragon Panzer 4D.
Chris Luna presented 3 Warhamer minatures that are WIPs: A Space Marine Chaplain, a Heavy Weapons Sgt. and a Dreadnaught.
Mike Warren presented a Trumpeter Russian KV-1 1/72 scale, an NIB Type 95 Light Tank “Ha-Go”, and an NIB Type 4 “Ke-Nu.”
Ken Childres presented an NIB AFV Dorchester ACV, a SAS Jeep Conversion set, a Wedgie WIP, a WIP of Riich Models RSO Truck with a Mini-Art figure to be used as a truck driver. He also presented a copy of the book TankArt 2 by Michael Rinaldi.
