CASM Meeting Minutes

Present: Brent Bristow, Cliff Bullock, Brianna Childres, Kenneth Childres, Jim Daly, Harley Derrick, Traci Derrick, Brian Elliott, Roy Elliott, Kenneth Faussett, Jeffrey Griffin, Charlie Hall, Bob Hiatt, Mona Hiatt, Lloyd King, Rick Knapp, Ron Leker, Daris Long, Chris Luna, Sam Macheak, Dave Mizda, John Montgomery, Rusty Nail, Eric Omundson, Conrad Schalchlin, Anthony Sharps, Phil Sharps, Ray Smith, David Stillwell, Mike Warren, David Wassell, Steve Wilson
The meeting was called to order by President Ray Smith at 10:00 A.M.
Announcements:
River City Comic-Con: Brent Bristow, Rusty Nail, Matt Bond, Ron Leker, and Tom Brown, set up a table at this event to display models and pass out cards and show fliers. Jeffrey Griffin, Chris Luna, and David Stillwell also attended this event. Over 4000 adults attended this event, and children attended for free. CASM members in attendance spoke to approximately 300-400 people who were interested in scale modeling.
Veteran’s Museum: Ray Smith is continuing to be in contact with the administrators of the museum. At this point, they are not sure what they need, so Ray will keep communication open as they make their assessments.
Sproo-Doo: Brianna Childres reminded everyone to announce the show on Facebook and model forums and invite modelers to attend.
There will be demos in the morning for those attending the show.
Vendor set up will be Friday, Sept. 25, at 6:00. If any members want to rent a table, get with Bri as soon as possible.
Pre-Registration is open. Save time by pre-registering your models.
The Battle of Champion registration is $5, and all proceeds go to the USS Alabama.
Don’t forget to visit the restaurants and activities in downtown Little Rock.
Cliff Bullock shared that a large number of models were donated for the raffle, but encourages everyone to still donate kits for the raffle.
Rusty Nail discussed the judging and a judging sign-up sheet was passed around.
HobbyTown: Ron Leker told us that Roger has a few damaged kits he is selling at a discounted price.

Demo: Ken Childres gave a demo on weathering, including painting rust and paint chipping using hairspray.

- Sam Macheak presented an NIB F-16XL.
- Ron Leker presented 2 1/72 Cylon Raider WIP, a Ranger from Interstellar WIP, and a Warhammer figure WIP.
- Brent Bristow presented a 1/1000 Star Trek Romulan Bird of Prey WIP.
- Rusty Nail presented a bust by Blackheart Enterprises that he is painting and writing an article for to be published on the Blackheart website.
- John Montgomery presented 2 rusted cars and a 2 headed cow to be put into a diorama.
- Dave Mizda presented a Revell 2010 Mustang.
- Kenneth Childres presented a 1078 tarp WIP sculpted with Aves.
- Mona Hiatt presented a civil war cannon.
- Bob Hiatt presented 3 ships, 2 of which had engraved plaques.
