The meeting was called to order by President Kenneth Childres at 10:00 A.M.
Announcements:
Region 6 Convention: Ken shared with us that he has been in contact with the president of the Air Capital IPMS Modelers, who hosted this year’s regional show. The show took a large financial loss due to several reasons, including low attendance, expense of the venue, catering of the event, and blocking out rooms at the hotel. The president was new to our region, and Ken offered advice on running a successful show here. Members of their club have expressed an interest in attending our show.
T-Shirts: T-shirts are in! There will be extra shirts available at the show. They are $20 per shirt.
Sproo-Doo: Ken has been sending out invitations to other clubs, and Sean Glaspell, Region 6 Coordinator, has also helped to advertise for the show. The AMPS regional contact also plans to attend the show. The vendors’ room is full, and an interested vendor had to be turned away because there is no more room. Bri has a set up chart for the contest room and vendors’ room. We will be able to set up on the night before the show. The street outside of the venue will be blocked off in the morning until 8:00 because of a marathon.
Cliff Bullock reminded everyone that we are still taking raffle donations. If anyone has a kit (or kits) they wish to donate, get it to Cliff.
Roger at HobbyTown will have a table, but he has a scheduling conflict and cannot attend. He is looking for volunteers to help watch his table.
Judging: Brent Bristow and Rusty Nail gave a short presentation to remind everyone of the judging system, and to go over new procedures. Rusty will be serving as head judge for this year’s show. Category judges have been assigned, and they will be responsible for assembling their teams. When judges complete their judging sheets, they give them to the category judge, who will confirm that the correct initials are on the entry sheet. When all 3 sheets for a model have been collected, the category judge will staple them and give them to Bri and Heather. Daris Long and Tom Brown also helped to clarify the new procedures.
Gift Card Drawing:
$5-Rick Knapp
$10-David Wassell
$15-Brent Bristow
November meeting: Due to a scheduling conflict at HobbyTown, the November meeting will be moved to the first Saturday of the month, which is on November 1.

Sproo-Doo: The street by the venue will be blocked off from 6:00-8:00 a.m. on the day of the show (9/27) to facilitate a marathon. To compensate for this, the venue is letting us set up the night before the show (9/26) from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Bri has already contacted vendors to let them know of this change. Bri has provided the venue with set-up charts to help speed things along.
The number of potential out of state attendees looks good at this point. Ken and several other members have invited modelers from several out of state areas to attend our show, and thus far, the interest is very high. Sean Glaspell, IPMS Region 6 Coordinator is planning to attend again this year, and the AMPS regional contact is planning to attend as well.
Rusty Nail will serve as head judge for the show this year. Category judges will be assigned, and they will assemble the teams to judge the assigned categories. Brent suggested that the judges turn the completed judge’s sheets in to the category judges, who will check to make sure all entries sheets have been initialed, and then turn in the sheets to Bri when he has all three sheets. Matt suggested that it would help if the sheets were stapled together.
Brent will give a short refresher on judging at the September CASM meeting, and a judges meeting will take place on the day of the show to train any non-CASM members that may be selected for judging. We would like the judging to begin at approximately 10:30 a.m.
T-Shirts: Ken has placed the order for the new t-shirts, and they will arrive on Sept. 18. There will be extras available for sale at the show.
Passing of Officer Duties: The passing of duties was discussed, as well as a review of past activities. The new and returning people were reminded that a review and possible revision of the by-laws will be the first duty of the new E-Board. It was also suggested that collecting of dues be reassigned to the treasurer so that the secretary can focus on taking notes for the minutes during the meetings.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:05 p.m.
