A number of you received the Scratching Post Blog at the beginning of this month similar to the way you received other IPMS chapter newsletters. But the Scratching Post is a blog. This means that posts are published throughout the month and, by clicking your link, you can check out what is written throughout the month and not have to wait to the beginning of each month to view what is posted. There are other advantages to the blog format:
- Multimedia presentations may be posted. Video demonstrations may be added or, as in the case of our tribute to veterans on Veterans Day, clips from the internet may be found and posted. Instead of having to read about the execution of certain techniques the technique can be viewed while it is being executed and explained by the demonstrator.
- Blogs are interactive in nature. Your opinion counts and we are interested in what you think. There is a place on each posting where you can make a comment about the piece you just read. We want to hear from our readers and encourage you to leave a comment. At some point in the future we will include polls about different topics and we desire your opinion.
- Blogs are inclusive. By making the Scratching Post a blog we want you to become a member of our family of modelers and participate in both the content posted and comments made.
- Articles may be submitted by club members and people outside of the club. If you would like to submit an article for publication, please do. There is a link on the right side of the page where you can submit your article. Not every article will be posted. We do expect the article to use complete sentences and to be somewhat grammatically correct. We encourage a large number of topics such as works-in-progress, your thoughts about the modeling industry, discussions of a certain genre of modeling or art in general, explanations of specific techniques, an introduction to your group or forums that you enjoy, or a photo collage of your completed work to name just a few ideas.
We have made our newsletter a blog because we think blogs are cool and we want to open our newsletter to modelers world wide. Please join us!
